Rajat Gupta is Director of the multi-disciplinary Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development (OISD) and Low Carbon Building Research Group at Oxford Brookes University (Oxford, UK). He holds a senior professorial chair in sustainable architecture and climate change.
Rajat’s research interests lie in building performance evaluation, local area energy mapping for scaling up energy retrofits, smart energy communities, indoor air quality and summertime overheating in buildings.
As Principal Investigator he has won over £14 million in research grants from UK Research Councils (EPSRC, ESRC, NERC), Innovate UK and EU to investigate these subjects. He has been leading a five year £1.3 million EPSRC-DST Newton Fund sponsored Indo-UK RESIDE project on Residential building energy demand reduction in India.
Rajat has won several awards and produced nearly 200 publications. He has been an adhoc member of UK Government’s Air Quality Expert Group, and also advises UK’s Ministry of Justice on tackling overheating in Government estates.
